Seven stories of brick at a temple site

Beopheung-dong’s pagoda is built of brick, not stone. Its historic period differs from its heritage-designation date; the tower alone cannot reconstruct the whole temple.

01 · HISTORY

How this neighborhood remembers change

1519 onward

A riverside clan house grows over generations

Imcheonggak became a substantial family residence whose layout reflected lineage, learning, and life beside the Nakdong River.

1910s–1945

The house becomes an independence-movement base

Members of the family, including Lee Sang-ryong, left privilege behind to support independence work, while colonial infrastructure damaged the estate.

Today

Restoration reconnects house, neighborhood, and river

Rail relocation and restoration allow the house's wider landscape and its national-history significance to be read again.

02 · NEIGHBORHOOD VOICES
