An earthen fortress was first built to defend the Eonyang settlement and its administrative center.

1500

Stone walls reshape the flatland fortress

The fortress was rebuilt and expanded in stone, leaving an important example of a late-15th-century flatland county fortress.

Market town becomes a mountain gateway

Market life, local food, rail and bus links, and routes toward the Yeongnam Alps keep Eonyang active as a regional center.
