01 · HISTORY

How this neighborhood remembers change

1759

Munwon appears in a local gazetteer

Gwacheon City traces Munwon to the Yeojidoseo record of villages belonging to old Gwacheon-hyeon.

1982

A village becomes today's dong

Administrative reorganization established the present Munwon-dong name as Gwacheon prepared for city status and new-town development.

Today

Longtime residents and relocated families share a neighborhood

Munwon's residential compounds grew partly through relocation during new-town construction; parks, a culture center, and a library now anchor everyday community life.

02 · NEIGHBORHOOD VOICES

A neighborhood is also remembered by its people

Public records explain dates and places. Residents preserve the shops, school roads, sounds, and ordinary moments that maps cannot hold.
