01 · HISTORY

How this neighborhood changed

Early 1900s

A stream runs through the port town

Sanjicheon linked inland neighborhoods, markets, and the waterfront of Jeju's growing old downtown.

20th c.

Urban roads cover the waterway

As the city modernized, sections of the stream were covered and absorbed into roads and commercial blocks.

2000s

The stream returns to public view

Restoration reopened the waterway, reconnecting the port, Dongmun Market, and old downtown as a walkable route.
